Almost 80 percent of the world’s poor people live in rural areas and rely primarily on agriculture for their livelihoods (goo.gl/o3hnAI). Reducing crop loss in rural households could greatly support global food security under UN Sustainable Development Goal 2. This session focuses on expanding the use and knowledge of satellite/drone information which could help understand better pre-harvest loss estimation for African smallholders, aiming to contribute to regional food security issues by providing more timely information on areas of production loss.
